"Brother, if you would enter that Province, you must go forward on your knees!" (Hudson Taylor, 1832-1905, Pioneer missionary to China) "Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel... Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should." Ephesians 5:19 As you embark upon this adventure of intercessory prayer for us and our ministry in Papua New Guinea, I encourage you to first read the article, Will You Pray For Me? This will give you the broad outline on how to pray for us personally. From there, I invite you to proceed boldly into prayer for the people and ministries with whom we are involved. The Chambri Tribe The Chambri tribe is located on an isolated island in the Chambri Lakes region of the East Sepik Province. 1,700 Chambris' live in three villages on the island. For a complete people profile and detailed information on how the Church came to be established in Chambri, please read the following two articles: The Chambri Tribe of Papua New Guinea God's Power Is Demonstrated Among The Chambri People Of PNG Praise God: * For the church of 70 people in Chambri * For Pastor Elias, Samuel and Harry; faithful Chambri brothers * That the Church has continued to grow in spite of stiff persecution Pray: * For Elias, Samuel and Harry as they work to evangelize their people, disciple new believers and instill a missionary mind-set in the church by leading regular evangelistic patrols to the still unreached tribes living in the Chambri Lakes Region. * That the Lord will continue to unmask deceiving spirits who imitate Chambri ancestors. Pray that the Chambri will see these spirits for who they really are, masquerading demonic spirits. * That the Lord will facilitate further (genuine) power encounter situations that forcibly demonstrate God’s sovereignty over tribal spirits. * That the Lord will break the demonic bondage of fear that paralyzes Chambri minds and makes it impossible to respond positively to the gospel message. * That the Lord will continue giving Chambri believers courage to stand on the side of Christ as they endure stiff persecution. * That Chambri will become a lighthouse for the gospel as it spreads through the surrounding tribes of Changriman, Yimbi-yimbi, Mali and Mele. * That a great harvest of souls will soon be reaped and other churches established in the Chambri swamps. * For my upcoming ministry trip to the Chambri region in January, 2003. |
