Rod and Linda Conner were both raised in Christian families. Rod’s father was an evangelist for 35 years, so he grew up hearing the gospel his whole life. However, while in bible college in Grand Rapids, MI (where he met Linda) Rod realized his faith was based more on his upbringing than on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. God revealed the doctrines of grace to Rod and Linda. The Lord has blessed their marriage of 36 years with four children and six grandchildren. Rod served as youth pastor at Randolph St. Baptist Church in Charleston, WV from 1976-78. In 1978 the Conners went to Reformed Baptist Church in Lewisburg, PA where Rod served as senior pastor until 2002.
Rod took his first mission trip to the West Indies in 1995. Almost immediately he felt a pull that he didn’t fully understand. Consequently, he took several trips back to the West Indies. Because the Conner’s local church had been supporting David and Tommi Sitton since the early 1980s, David came to Lewisburg for a mission conference in 2004. The newly formed board of To Every Tribe accompanied David to Lewisburg and had their inaugural board meeting. During the conference, David announced a need for additional staff, and Rod and Linda have been a part of the ministry ever since. In 2006 Rod was appointed Vice President of To Every Tribe. Rod teaches at the Center for Pioneer Church Planting (CPCP) and helps to lead mission trips into Mexico and Papua New Guinea (PNG). He also represents the ministry by traveling extensively throughout Canada and the US. Rod loves every facet of To Every Tribe and the CPCP. The opportunity to work with students who are preparing for a life-time of serving the Lord is especially rewarding. Being part of a ministry that focuses on planting churches among unreached people groups is an amazing blessing. The Conners’ prayer is to continue serving with To Every Tribe as long as the Lord allows.
